This project was a deep-rooted transformation of a historic farmhouse kitchen, completed for a close friend of the company. More than a simple update, this was a massive structural undertaking designed to meet the needs of a large, active family. The transformation began with the removal of a primary exterior bearing wall, which we replaced with a heavy-duty beam to create a seamless, open floor plan. To ensure the home’s longevity, our crew added critical structural bracing to support the second floor and performed extensive custom shimming to perfectly level the entire floor area.
By incorporating an old entry room into the kitchen’s footprint, we were able to create a dedicated dining area, significantly increasing the home's usable square footage. The finishes were chosen to honor the home’s rustic heritage, featuring custom rustic hickory cabinetry and decorative beams that provide warmth and character. Practicality meets luxury with the installation of durable LVT flooring and a large central island equipped with a sink—the perfect hub for family meal prep. A cozy window reading nook was integrated to offer a quiet escape within the busy heart of the home. From the complex structural changes to the intricate tile backsplash, this renovation provides the family with a sturdy, beautiful, and central gathering space that will serve them for generations.
